Pete Buttigieg Goes Off On Matt Gaetz And His Band Of Idiots For Jeopardizing National Security

South Bend mayor and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg tore into Republican members of Congress on Wednesday for putting America’s national security at risk to defend Donald Trump.

In a Twitter post, Buttigieg explained that when he worked in a SCIF as a military officer, he used to have nightmares about accidentally doing what Republican lawmakers intentionally did earlier in the day: bring cell phones into the room.

“The importance of keeping [SCIF] secure (i.e. from cell phone signals) was drilled into us so deeply that I’d have bad dreams about accidentally leaving my phone in the pocket of my uniform,” the mayor said. “This behavior is an embarrassment.”

As PoliticusUSA’s Jason Easley noted on Wednesday, a group of House Republicans – led by shameless Rep. Matt Gaetz – barged into the secure intelligence briefing room to crash the ongoing impeachment hearings.

Not only weren’t these Republican lawmakers allowed in the room, but they were prohibited from bringing electronic devices. The GOP representatives ignored the strict rules and did it anyway, putting American national security at risk to please and protect the toddler in the Oval Office.

This particular issue – U.S. national security – is important to all Americans. But it’s particularly personal for Pete Buttigieg, who served in the military for eight years and fought for this country – so it’s no surprise that he was infuriated by the GOP tantrum.

Republican lawmakers didn’t just embarrass themselves on Wednesday; they made the country less safe in order to pull off a publicity stunt to protect a criminal president of the United States.
