Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell made up a new rule for filling a Supreme Court vacancy when he told reporters that he would only definitely move the nominee forward if it was the first year of the Democratic president’s term.

Mitch McConnell is already planning to block future Democratic Supreme Court nominees

McConnell told reporters:

Mitch McConnell is making up his own rules on Supreme Court nominations

Mitch McConnell has no constitutional basis for the things that are coming out of his mouth. The Senate Majority Leader is inventing imaginary rules to give himself the ability to block future Democratic Supreme Court nominees outside of a president’s first year in office.

McConnell is making it up as he goes along. Barack Obama can’t nominate a Supreme Court justice in the last year of his term, but Donald Trump can nominate justices when he wants. A future Democratic president will have a one year window to get a Supreme Court nominee confirmed, but the same rule doesn’t apply to Republican presidents.

Mitch McConnell is a cancer that is killing the Senate.

The Senate Majority Leader is using his power to harm the country for partisan gain.

It isn’t enough for Democrats to take back the Senate majority in 2020. They also must get Mitch McConnell out of the Senate.
